'Non-Violent Action For Tibet' Workshop
(June 23-28, 2002. Kalimpong, West Bengal)

Dialogues on Hind Swaraj

Day Six (Friday. June 28, 2002): At 9am we begun the session with 15 people. Mahatma Gandhi's 'Hind Swaraj or Indian Home Rule' was discussed. Karma Yeshi la gave an introduction to the book. I read out some portions and gave examples from the book and spoke on how the book is relevant to our struggle in understanding it in a larger map -- the Chinese as the invader and the Tibetans have been invaded upon. How the invader controls and maintains the control on the colonised.

As the discussion went on, people who've been coming to attend the 'Public Meet' kept on coming and floor got extended. More than 60 people had assembled. It was difficult to gather speakers. Four to five people talked to a gathering of local Tibetans from Kalimpong on various topics ranging from the formation of Friends of Tibet (INDIA) to their role in the freedom struggle in Tibet and in exile.

At 2pm, we met to conclude the workshop. A request was made to construct the 'Martyr Pillar' in Kalimpong. Karma Yeshi la thanked the participants and all local NGOs who helped us to organise the workshop in Kalimpong.
