'Vision Wellbeing', the 18-minute long awareness teaser campaign by C-Wing, a Mumbai-based design firm in solidarity with Tibet and Tibetan people was developed using selected images from various activities of Friends of Tibet and the philanthropic work carried out by Friends of Tibet Foundation for the Wellbeing in India since 1999.
Tushar Gandhi described 'Vision Wellbeing' teaser as "an inspiring and informative pictorial journey of the activities both in activism, spreading awareness of Tibetan issues and conducting Wellbeing camps that benefit society by providing health care services as well as keep alive the ancient traditional holistic medical system of Tibet alive and relevant." He also opinioned that "initiatives of the Friends of Tibet helps to keep alive the cause of freedom for Tibet and its people."
Santosh Kangutkar, a professional designer and a long-time associate of Friends of Tibet took the initiative of making 'Vision Wellbeing' for Friends of Tibet in the year 2016. "The question before me was how to convince others about the seriousness of the issue and the benefits of an indigenous medical system. 'Vision Wellbeing' was the answer! And Team C-Wing decided to create a short presentation in a simple visual language by collating all the information and images available to connect with people," says Kangutkar.
World Tibet Day (WTD) was initiated in Chicago in 1997 at an informal meeting between Tendzin Choegyal, the Dalai Lama's younger brother and Richard Rosenkranz, a Pulitzer Prize nominee in history and a former correspondent from the US Senate. Rosenkranz proposed the concept of WTD, saying it could become an annual worldwide event, designed to help the Tibetan people regain essential freedoms. Believing that the proposed event held great promise, they offered the idea to His Holiness, who gave them his blessing and his warm support. Founded in 1998, World Tibet Day has grown into one of the most important events on the Tibetan calendar.
Sethu Das, Director of World Tibet Day Foundation says "one positive action each of us can take, no matter which country we live in, is to urge our government and our elected representatives to approach the Chinese Government on behalf of the Tibetan people in order to restore its lost religious, social and political freedom. One of our goals with World Tibet Day is to put pressure on decision makers in China to agree to negotiations with the Tibetan government in exile in India without any preconditions."
